Photo album from the Reunion at the Eagle River Derby Track,Eagle River, Wisconsin September 22-23, 2006This was the sixth annual show and grass drags at the derby track. The weather always seems to cooperate with this event, but the odds caught up this year. The weatherman was predicting rain and cold a week ahead of time. It drizzled most of Friday, but Saturday was not too bad. It was warm enough for just a long sleeve shirt, and no rain to speak of.The outdoor show was almost non-existant, but there were several rows of nice vintage snowmobiles inside the exhibit hall. The swap area was pretty thin Friday, but was as full as I've seen it on Saturday.Select the thumbnails to show the photo in a pop-up window. You may resize the window to enlarge the photo and show more detail.
Of all of the snowmobiles at the show, this machine drew most of my attention. It is the creation of Mr. Ken Mueller of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Now, I'm by no means a Ski-Doo fan (brand loyalties from back in the day die hard) but this is one beautiful looking sled. It has, from my perspective, all of the comfort and convenience niceties of a modern sled. Long travel rear suspension, IFS front, modern engine, etc. and it is all fit into the compact footprint of a 1973 Ski-Doo. Best of all, it doesn't look like a bloated pregnant pelican. The fit and finish is excellent. Why can't the big four make a sled like this? Maybe they will some day, maybe I'm a dinosaur, but I'll be there with check in hand when they do.Here are the particulars from Mr. Mueller's data sheet. Photo album below.
