1970 Arctic Cat Panther 440J

It runs and drives, but needs a tuneup or more. It also needs a complete restoration to suit my tastes.

Probably the most interesting  aspect of this sled is how decked out it is. Chrome shocks, Speedometer, tachometer, head temp gauges, electric start. The original owner must have been real proud of this baby!

Rear bumper is corroded real bad and would take a lot of work to get shining again. Tank just needs some paint and maybe a "ding king".

Only part missing from the sled is the vent panel at the upper left corner of the dash. Remarkably enough, the tool/battery box hinge is intact. Guy must have never opened it!!

Worst aspect of the sled is the wiring. Someone really butchered it up. Lights don't work, but electric start works great when hooked up to a car battery. Charging system does not work, probably from running the sled without a battery installed. I've heard this will destroy the voltage regulator. That old JLO looks like a monster with that big fan housing.

What bright engineer decided to use a carb that has the high speed mixture screw within 1/8 inch of the driven clutch hub! Maybe that's a safety feature, so you don't try to adjust it while underway. You'd pull back a bloody stump for sure.
