Relic Ride - Hurley, Wisconsin January 14, 2006.
One could make a good case for the growing popularity of vintage snowmobiles just by the turnout at this ride. I didn't count myself, but heard there were 58 vintage sleds gathered in the clearing at our first stop. That's a very large group of snowmobiles by anyone's standards. I apologize for the few photos I took. I'm especially sad about not getting a few shots of the very nice Manta that was there. I ended up riding with a group that chose not to make as frequent stops as the main bunch. Four of us eventually splintered off and had a nice ride around the southern end of the Gile Flowage and back into Hurley about sunset. I decided to ride my 1970 Panther "Goldie". It gave me no trouble other than some rich running issues at certain speeds, and it's inability to keep up with the 292 singles I was running with at the end of the day. It was entertaining to see the crowds gather around at stops!
