Photo album from the Scorpion HomecomingCrosby, Minnesota - February 4, 2006On February 4, 2006 the Harrison family once again organized the second (annual?) exhibition of Scorpion Snowmobiles at their birthplace, Crosby Minnesota. This was held in conjunction with the annual Cuyuna Range Chamber of Commerce ice fishing contest on Serpent Lake.In stark contrast to last years event, the morning dawned with temperatures hovering just above zero. A cloudless sky and bright sunshine helped to warm temperatures to the upper teens by mid-day. With perfect temperature for running the sleds and a flat, thin snow cover, the lap around Serpent lake was completed at a good clip. There were some really beautiful restorations on display, including a gorgeous 1963 all fiberglass model and Richard Harrison's buckskin and brown 1966. Bullwhips, Super Stingers, prototypes, factory mods were all great eye candy for the Scorpion enthusiast. Mostly though, as was the case last year, the vast majority were survivors and daily drivers, trail sleds that are frequently used. At noon I counted 125 sleds in the two long show lines.A great wrapup to the days events was an invitation for all to come visit the nearby Harrison collection and museum. A tip of the hat to Dick, Eileen, Randy and Deb for their generosity and hospitality. It was a fantastic way to wind up the day.Select the thumbnails to show the photo in a pop-up window. You may resize the window to enlarge the photo and show more detail.
